Test Fixtures

FixturFab's internal design platform automates the tedious parts of the mechanical design.

FixturFab sells two types of Test Fixtures.

  • Development Test Fixtures. Simple fixtures for low-volume testing in a desktop or lab environment.
  • Production Test Fixtures. Robust fixtures for mass production at the contract manufacturer.

Integrating Automated Test Equipment (ATE) changes the classification of a Test Fixture into a Test System and results in higher prices and lead times.

Estimated Starting Prices and Lead Times

Estimated starting prices and lead times listed below are for Test Fixtures with 50 test points.

  • For an additional fee, FixturFab can expedite orders and guarantee a faster lead time.
  • This assumes the Device Under Test (DUT) follows our Design For Test (DFT) guidelines.
  • Additional features like Top and Side Probing increase the complexity and price of each Test Fixture.
  • Integrating Automated Test Equipment (ATE) changes the classification of a Test Fixture into a Test System and has a higher price to complete the system-level architecture, electrical design work, and defining and executing a system validation plan.

You must connect to a bed of nails Test Fixture to access the test point signals. Wires can be wrapped or soldered to each test probe's receptacle, or FixturFab can include a Test Point Carrier Board (TPCB) that routes signals to feedthroughs in the back. FixturFab sells two types of TPCBs.

An "Auto" TPCB routes test point signals to connector pins, and FixturFab can leverage internal tools to automate most of the design work.

  • There is no additional circuitry or instrumentation, and cables connect the TPCB to feedthroughs on the back of the fixture.
  • This option adds $2,500 to a quote and has a 3-4 week lead time.
  • During the design phase, FixturFab works through templates with your team to define the test point signal to the feedthrough pinout interface.
  • Auto TPCBs are sold with standard Test Fixtures or integrated into Test Systems.

A "Turnkey" TPCB requires additional electrical design time to understand your system requirements and integrate circuitry or instrumentation into the TPCB.

  • These solutions usually add ~$10k and take 4-6 weeks to complete because of the custom design time and system validation.
  • Turnkey TPCBs are only sold with Test Systems.

Test Fixture, Replica, Kit, and Cartridge Prices

Standard Development Test Fixtures are available as kits. Higher-end Test Fixtures support modular cartridges that can be updated and replaced. Each has a different base price that will affect the final price and lead time.

Estimated starting prices and lead times listed below are for Test Fixtures with 50 test points.

  • This assumes the Device Under Test (DUT) follows our Design For Test (DFT) guidelines.
  • Additional mechanical features like Top and Side Probing increase the complexity and price of Test Fixtures.
