Fixture Bases

Overview of FixturFab test fixture bases including development fixtures and Ingun production fixtures. Specifications, dimensions, and capabilities.

FixturFab offers multiple test fixture bases for PCB testing, divided into two categories: in-house developed fixtures for prototyping and development, and Ingun-supplied production fixtures for high-volume manufacturing. Additional fixture types can be supported—contact hello@fixturfab.com for details.

Development Fixtures#

Development fixtures are designed in-house for prototyping and lower-volume production needs. They provide a cost-effective entry point with quick turnaround times.

Dev (206-0016-00)#

Standard development fixture with a useable area of 196 x 180mm. Supports DUTs up to the same dimensions with 45mm of free space above the board. Maximum contact force is 200N, suitable for most development applications.

Dev XL (206-0018-00)#

Larger development option accommodating DUTs up to 218 x 447mm. Weighs 2.8kg with the same 200N contact force capability as the standard Dev model.

Dev Pro (206-0025-00)#

Professional-grade development fixture featuring a 170 x 145mm useable area. Includes 15mm parallel contact stroke capability, differentiating it from the standard Dev series for applications requiring more controlled probe engagement.

Dev Pro XL (206-0023-00)#

Extended Pro series supporting DUTs up to 232 x 151mm. Maintains comparable specifications to the Dev Pro with larger working dimensions.

Production Fixtures (Ingun)#

Ingun fixtures are professional-grade pneumatic fixtures designed for production environments. All Ingun models feature 2000N maximum contact force and 15mm parallel contact stroke—substantially exceeding development fixture capabilities.

Choosing Between Development and Production#

Development fixtures are ideal when:

  • Prototyping new products with evolving designs
  • Testing volumes under 1,000 units per month
  • Quick turnaround is more important than fixture durability
  • Budget is constrained for initial fixture investment

Production fixtures are necessary when:

  • Testing volumes exceed 1,000 units per month
  • Fixture durability over hundreds of thousands of cycles is required
  • Consistent, repeatable probe contact pressure is critical
  • Pneumatic operation improves operator ergonomics in production
